APPRECIATING OPPORTUNITIES

[13a top] R’ Yirmiyah to R Zeira: One must free a Jewish slave from an idolator because with each passing day the slave is removed from observing more commandments.
R’ Rosner: When we make Brachos in the morning and praise G-d that He has not created us as slaves, we are actually thanking Him for giving us the opportunity to be able to fulfil more of His commandments.

E’s Lesson: Whether we have direct commandments, or ‘simple’ moments to help our fellow friends, we should always be thankful for our opportunities. We should never feel ‘burdened’ with responsibilities or feel ‘obligated’ to help other Jews in need. If we switch our mindsets we can truly live each and every moment Be’Simcha (in joy), which will help us feel more fulfilled and enable us to serve Hashem in the most proper ways possible.
