Letting Your Guard Down

[2a middle] Gemarah quotes the Torah [Devarim 25]: Amalek attacked us when we were weak and tired. This was when evil had an opportunity to confront us. When Jews are sharp and focused on Hashem, Amalek would never even be able to approach our Holy nation.

E’s Lesson: When asked what is the proper thing to do, most of the time, we are able to give a proper answer. However, we we are over-tired, over-stressed, or over-worked, we tend to lose that clarity and vision. It is during these taxing times that we must make extra efforts to push off our Yetzer Haras and keep our defenses strong. We should review Torah and Mussar constantly to keep our souls and bodies on the straight Path of Life.
