R’ Rosner: While the Rambam praises Doctors for great intellect and Torah given Halachick authority (like what type of sick person may eat on Yom Kippur), in Russia there is a Minhag that Doctors may not be a Chazzan. This is because they do not have proper Kavanah (intention) during the Bracha of Refa’einu (healing) since doctors think they are the source of peoples’ healing.

E’s Lesson: As it says in last week’s Parsha Naso (after the Kohanims’ blessing): “and I Myself will bless them.”Brachos (blessings) are ONLY from Hashem. The Kohanim are used as the Channels. Healing is not brought from doctors, and wealth is not given from bosses. We should always be thankful to G-d’s channels and show Hakaras Hatov, but never forget where everything REALLY comes from.
