ACT ACCORDINGLY

[10b bottom] R’ Eliezer: The world was created in the month of Tishrei. Rabbi Artscroll explains that this refers to man who was created on the sixth day. The whole purpose of creation is man and the world was not considered complete until man was made. The Braisa equate the creation of man with the creation of the world.

Rabbi Simcha Bunim: Everyone must have two pockets, with a note in each pocket, so that he or she can reach into the one or the other, depending on the need. When feeling lowly and depressed, discouraged or disconsolate, one should reach into the right pocket, and, there, find the words: “For my sake was the whole world created.” But when feeling high and mighty one should reach into the left pocket, and find the words: “I am but dust and ashes.”

E’s Lesson: We must remember our importance and greatly value everything in the world that was created for each of us individually. As well as understand, we are nothing more than a nuts or bolts in a greater magnanimous machine. However, when a nut tries to act NUTS (and separates him/herself from one’s direct function and purpose), that is when a quintessential piece becomes lost and the operation starts to fault. Never try to selfishly pronounce a misrepresented sense of false individualistic power. We must use our G-d given talents and tools to help run worldly operations smoothly and at its optimal levels.
