Judge Not

[18b top] Gemarah: Normally, one would immerse in clean water, but in the heat one might even use dirty water to cool off in. Even in the winter, one might immerse in dirty water if he is soiled with mud.

T’s lesson: There are many times that we are caught in difficult positions (sha’as hadichak). The Rabbis recognize that people are not infallible and would have to rely on these kind of leniencies. We should strive not to have to use these last minute reliances, but we should understand and accept when they need to be used. We should not judge people as being “unorganized” or “always late.”
