DISTANCING DISQUALIFICATIONS
[2a top] Mishnah: An example of Eidim Zomemin is when witnesses falsely claim that a particular Kohen is the son of a divorcee [which would make him a “Chalal” (a desecrated/disqualified Kohen)] and then they are later found to have been lying, they receive lashes as their punishment.
R’ Rosner: Chalal means “emptiness/space.” When people do Aveiros it is called a “Chilul Hashem,” [since it is a place where G-d’s Presence is lacking].
D-E-ep Thoughts: Instead of (Chas Veshalom) sinning and distancing ourselves from G-d, we must work during every moment of our entire lives to achieve Deveikus (coming closer) to Hashem [since this is the entire purpose of our existence (and everything else just helps us achieve it)].
Today’s P.I.P. (Put Into Practice) TIP: While eating, working, resting, learning, or playing, stop and think, “Am I doing this with an intention of coming closer to G-d?”
