[53b middle] R’ Nachman quoting Rabbah bar Avuha: If there are two (ownerless) houses (of which the inside one can only be reached through the outer one) and one makes a propriety act on the INNER house with intention to become the owner of both houses, he does acquire ownership of both (for since the only way to get to the inner one is through the outer one, the outer one is viewed as secondary to the inner).
R’ Rosner explaining Rashbam: The OUTER home is Tafel (viewed as insignificant/subservient) to the INNER Ikur (main/important) one. The outer home is just like a ‘passageway’ to get where one really wants to go.

D-E-ep Thoughts: The INNER parts (ie: souls) of ourselves are the REAL parts. Our physical outer bodies should be viewed as ‘Tafel’ and must work to serve the ‘Ikur’ spiritual Holiness. On a larger scale, we must remember at all times that this physical world is ‘just a passageway’ to the next true and spiritual existence.

Today’s P.I.P. (Put Into Practice) TIP: We must never let physicality become our primary drive. When we focus on our ultimate goals, our souls will shine through our outer subservient shells.
