OUTLYING OFFSHOOTS

[24b top] Mishnah: When planting a tree, one must distance it at least twenty five Amos from the edge of a city (Ula: to maintain the city’s open beauty) and fifty Amos if it is a carob or sycamore tree (which has many branches).

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Although our actions are seemingly private and/or independent of others, they always have far ‘branching’ effects. We may not behave selfishly and must inspect what consequences might ensue for others. It is important to distance the souls that we are from our physically driven bodies and pause to reflect where our drives are truly coming from.
