QUIRKY QUESTIONS
[23b bottom] Gemarah: A young dove which is found within fifty amos of a dovecote, belongs to the owner of the dovecote, if it is beyond fifty amos, it belongs to its finder. R’ Yirmiyah inquired: If one foot is within fifty amos and its other is beyond, what is the ruling? For his question, R’ Yirmiyah was ejected from the Beis Midrash (study hall) [seemingly because it was an outlandish question].
Prac-T-cal Tidbits: It is important to stay grounded with logic and purposeful outlooks (especially within practical debates). Theoretical analysis has its place, but must be reserved for appropriate settings. We should remember to properly relate to our audiences and not push our ideas where they are not wanted.
