PEACEFUL PARCHMENTS

[102a middle] Tosephos: There is Machlokes (debate) about how to put up a Mezuzah. Rashi says straight (up and down), while Rabeinu Tam says to lay it across (right to left). RAMA says we should lean it on an angle to fulfil both opinions. [The reason this is good according to both is because each opinion only says not to do like the other (and a diagonal therefore is still a valid option for both of them).]
R’ Rosner quoting Baalei Mussar: The first thing we see (and should be reminded of) upon entering our homes is a ‘sign of compromise.’ The mounted angle of the Mezuzah should remind us to keep “Shalom Bayis” peace within our home.

D-E-ep Thoughts: We should try to glean specific and unique messages from everything we encounter throughout the day. Hashem is constantly sending us personalized codes and reminders about what we should and should not be doing.

Today’s P.I.P. (Put Into Practice) TIP: Every time we pass by (and kiss) another Mezuzah in our home, we should envision a Heavenly voice booming from the box, “Remember to subdue your ego and harmoniously do the will of others!”
