DEFINITE DISASTERS
[93b bottom] Mishnah: Attacks on sheep that a watcher is caring for by bandits, lions, bears, leopards, polecats, and/or snakes are considered unavoidable mishaps [since they came by themselves (but if the watcher brought the sheep into a dangerous area, he is considered liable)].
Prac-T-cal Tidbits: We should always do what we can (Hishtadlus) to ensure that we safeguard ourselves, our families, and our properties. It is a Mitzvah/requirement to properly protect what we value by traversing safe paths, keeping doors closed, and securing with locks and alarms. Our defenses must remain strong not only with our physical items and homes but within our spiritual environments as well.
