ERASING EROSIONS

[52a top] Gemarah: One may not sell an eroded coin [that has reached its limit where it cannot even be kept lying around (since it may get mixed up with proper valued coins)] to a merchant, an extortioner, or a murderer (even at its present value), because they are likely to cheat others with it.

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Even though we have an obligation to financially protect ourselves, we must not do it at the expense of our spirituality. We must not get involved with shady characters and be careful who we hang out with. It is a prohibition to give cheaters more of an opportunity to swindle others and it is even more important not to allow our surroundings to become personally infiltrated by impurity.
