SECURING SOULS

[21a middle] Mishnah: The Torah mandates that one return a lost item to its owner. This obligation is limited to items which the owner has a chance of recovering, due to some identifying sign.

D-E-ep Thoughts (based on R’ Rosner quoting Baalei Mussar): The obligation of returning a lost item is extended into the spiritual realm as well. If we are required to return even a small amount of money, how much more so must we do everything we can to help a ‘lost soul.’ Some people may need a little ‘help’ returning to Hashem and we are commanded to do everything we can to assist in the Kiruv/re-connecting (religious Jewish outreach) process.
