[116b bottom] Rava: According to the principle of Rav, workers can even quit in the middle of their work day [but as long as he has not officially quit, he is considered to be in the service of his employer]. The verse states, “For to me, Bnei Yisrael are servants,” and not servants to servants [one is always in servitude only to Hashem, but may choose when not to work for another human being].

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: We are only true slaves to Hashem and He is the One who provides everything for us. We should never get too caught up in our physical work for others and remember that it is just one avenue for Hashem to shower us with Parnassah (livelihood).
