CHUTZPAH CURRENTS

[107a top] Rabbah: There is a Halachik assumption that one does not act brazenly (and completely lie) in front of one who lent him money [Rashi: since the lender did the borrower a favor, or Tosephos/Rashba: because the lender is there and knows the real truth].
R’ Rosner quoting Ramah: Now-a-days people are much more Chutzpadik (brazen) and have no problem lying [therefore this Chazakah (established principle) no longer applies)].

D-E-ep Thoughts: It is very unfortunate and saddening to witness the demoralization and degeneration of newer generations. Although society’s’ values around us may be crumbling, we must stand firm in our beliefs and values. Just as the Jews in Egypt kept their strong identities, so too are we now challenged in modern times not to assimilate with current culture and ‘acceptable’ practices.
