MENTAL MINORS

[64b middle] R’ Yehudah quoting R’ Assi: A minor who discards a stone but keeps a nut has the legal capacity to acquire for himself an object, but not to acquire it for others. A minor who borrows an object and returns it (when the owner asks for it at a later time), may acquire something either on his own behalf or on behalf of others.

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: We should always recognize the capabilities and realize capacities of our children. Minors, especially, may be able to do much more than we think they can. May we never underestimate others’ powers and abilities (as they may come to help us when we need them).
