YEARNING YERUSHALAYIM

[57a bottom] R’ Yosef to Abaye: The famous village of Sechanya in Mitzrayim was destroyed even though they had many Holy people there, because they did not properly mourn over the destruction of Yerushalayim.
Meshech Chochma years before WWII declared: “If the Israeli (i.e. Jew) thinks that ‘Berlin is Jerusalem’… then a raging storm wind will uproot him by his trunk… a tempest will arise and spread its roaring waves, and swallow, and destroy, and flood forth without pity…”

D-E-ep Thoughts: No matter how comfortable we get in our communities and homes, we must remember that we are still in exile. We should always yearn to live in Israel and within times of revealed G-dliness. May we always remember Israel and Yerushalayim in our minds and our hearts and pray for the coming of Moshiach and the 3rd Beis Hamikdash, speedily in our days.
