CONTROLLING CONSEQUENCES

[55b bottom] R’ Yochanan: “Fortunate is the man that always fears the consequences of his actions and he that hardens his heart will come to harm.” This verse is illustrated in three stories by which tragedy struck when people failed to consider the consequences of their actions [ie: Kamtza and bar Kamtza, a rooster and a hen, and the side of a carriage].

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: We always need to be careful of our words and actions. Consequences have the potential to be extremely deadly and much more far reaching than we could ever imagine. If we take pause for a moment before acting, we will be in better control of what comes next.
