DARTING DESTINY
[41b top] Tosephos: The Gemarah used the verse of “G-d formed it (the world) to be inhabited,” rather than just state the commandment in the Torah’s verse of “Pru Urivu” (be fruitful and multiply) in order to stress the magnificent importance of having children.
GM’ Brachos Daf10: King Chizkiyahu saw with prophecy that he would have an evil child and decided not to have children because of it. Yeshayahu informed him that he was deathly ill and was going to lose his share in the world to come because of his mistaken choices. It was not Chizkiyahu’s place to get involved in the secret ways in which Hashem runs His world; He was merely supposed to properly fulfil his job and obey and fulfill G-d’s commandments.
D-E-ep Thoughts: We have a Book of direct commands from G-d and an overwhelming obligation to live according to them. Just because we think certain outcomes may ensue due to our adherence to His guidelines, that does not give us a “right” to disobey them [ie: people may not break Shabbos laws because they are fearful to lose their jobs otherwise]. We have to play by His rules and have the faith to know that Hashem will bring what will be and nothing we do or do not do will change His predestined results [but we will get rewarded/punished for our decisions/intentions in the process].
