[37b top] Gemarah: During the Shemittah time, a lender has to say to a borrow, “Do not worry about the loan, for I have cancelled it.”
Most Poskim [Ohr Zaruah, RambaN, Rosh, Mordechai]: The loan is automatically forgiven, but each person has an individual obligation to “cancel” his/her loan.
R’ Rosner: Just like on Shabbos, Hashem sanctifies the day, but we also have our own obligations to do personal sanctifications of the day with our Kiddush blessings.

D-E-ep Thoughts: The same principle applies to everything within our lives. G-d has a master plan with events to unfold and specific concluding results to realize. What we do does not necessarily alter our destinations, but we are still required to “will” and act appropriately. We are rewarded/punished based on our choices, but these do not affect what will ultimately be.
