MAINTAINING MEANING
[18a bottom] R’ Elazar bar R’ Tzadok: If a document is written during the day, but only signed that night (the next hebrew day), it is still valid if they were involved in the matter of writing the document the entire time [and were not distracted from the subject at hand].
D-E-ep Thoughts: Even when we are doing seemingly “un-spiritual” things, as long as we maintain proper Holy intentions, we still get credit for constantly doing G-d’s will; Sleep can be used for obtaining energy for better performance the next day, eating can be done with intention to gain more power to serve better, even work can be performed in order to provide sustenance for the family and have more time to learn Torah without worry. We should keep our focus on what our main purpose is and use all our actions towards achieving Deveikus (closeness) to Hashem.
