OBVIOUS OBSTACLES

[7a top] Mishnah: When a man brings his wife to Israel to drink the Sotah (suspected adulteress) waters, his home court sends two Rabbis with them for the journey to make sure the couple does not have (now) prohibited relations.
Even though this man is on his way to bring his wife to possible death (if the suspicions are correct), we are still worried about the two of them being physically together.

D-E-ep Thoughts: The passions for physical pleasures in this world are much stronger than obvious logic. The Torah and Rabbis teach us that we need to safeguard our souls to not ever enter into the arena of possible dangers. Desires can be disastrous, and we need to retrain our minds and hearts to properly focus on our “big-prize” goals and never get sidetracked anywhere along the way.
