11 Adar II, 5774 (3/13/14) – Sukkah#38 {Tani}

Gemarah brings down the Mishna that describes when a person should do the mitzvah of lulav. Technically, one may do the mitzvah most of the day. However, it is better to do it earlier in the day during shacharit (morning prayers).

T’s Lesson: Many of us naturally tend to be procrastinators. We think, “Ohh, I will do it later, when I have more time.” Don’t push off till tomorrow, what you can do today. Perhaps tomorrow may not come, and the mitzvah will have been missed out upon. The early bird catches the worm. We get rewarded based on how much toil we put in, and how hard the work we do is. Think of how hard it is for many people just to get up early to daven. Pirkei avot teaches us, “Im lo achshav, eimasai?” (“If not now, when?”) Carpe diem. Make the most of our time, now, to accomplish all the mitzvos we possibly can.
