COMMON PRACTICE

[95b top] Rav Yeimar said to Rav Ashi: “Since it is common in everyday practice,” creditors may still collect from previously sold properties after other free properties (which they could have normally collected from) have been ruined.

D-E-ep Thoughts: Halacha (Jewish law) has to be applicable within the real world. Many times the Rabbis suggest to “go look outside at what the people do.” There is never anything that Hashem or the Rabbis ask of us to do that is beyond our capabilities. We have to analyze the depths of the Torah and try to implement all aspects of G-dliness into our day to day lives.
