CONCERNED PARTIES
[92b bottom] Abaye: Reuven sells land to Shimon (with or without a guarantee), and Reuven’s creditor comes to collect payment from this field that he sold Shimon. Reuven may jump in front of his creditors to stop them from going to Shimon [because if there is a guarantee on the sale, Reuven can argue that Shimon would come back to him for reimbursement anyway (so deal with Reuven instead), and if there is no guarantee, Reuven can claim that he does not want Shimon to have a grievance against him.].
Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Whenever we deal with others in transactions, we should not just view the people as ‘potential profit.’ We should remain human in our outlook and continually consider them as “concerned parties” even post-sales. Whenever we have opportunities to help others, we should try to do what we can, especially when we have the capabilities.
