SELF REFLECTIONS
[67b top] Torah [Bereishis 2:18]: אֶעֱשֶׂה לּוֹ עֵזֶר כְּנֶגְדּוֹ (I shall make him a helpmate “opposite” him).
R’ Hirsch & Nitziv: The best type of ‘helper’ is someone that is opposite to an individual. They must not only be able to complement each other, but also to help fix one another.
R’ Shalom Arush: Our marriage partners act as reflections in mirrors of ourselves, so that we can be able to recognize what is wrong within us [plus, it is usually done in an explosively ballistic manner to get us to wake up and receive the message].
D-E-ep Thoughts: A key rule to remember (from Uriel Schrier): Whatever faults we find in others, are (most likely) what is really wrong within ourselves. Instead of criticizing others, we should use every interaction as an opportunity to look inward and ‘reflect and correct’ ourselves.
