CIRCULAR GROWTH

[47a middle] R’ Achai: A father may marry off his daugher, as long as it does not interfere with her work (so as not to cause her a loss of money), ie: like on Shabbos (when she would not be working anyway).
Tosephos: The wedding must be taking place not on actual Shabbos [when a wedding is forbidden, due to mixing types of Simcha (happiness)], but rather during the period of “Tosefes Shabbos,” (and extension of the day when we are allowed to bring the day in earlier).
Taz: The actual Holy Day starts earlier (due to one’s acceptance of it).
Marshall: One just accepts the prohibitions of the day earlier, but the day itself does not begin until the actual time of sunset.

D-E-ep Thoughts: We should always try to bring Shabbos in early and extend it beyond its time. Firstly, this shows how eager we are for it and that it is pleasurable for us (and not a burden). Secondly, the entire purpose of Shabbos is to elevate our next week up to a new a level rather than just dropping ‘back’ into a workweek. We do not go in circular patterns in Judaism, as we are on a spiraling double helix of DNA, transforming our lives to new and greater heights. So too with Holidays, we do not just encounter the same Holiness in time as the year comes around again, but rather we hit the same “X” axis of time on a higher “Y” axis point each year on the plotted graph of spirituality.
