DANCING AWAY

[16b top] Braisa: If a woman’s Kesuvah was lost, hidden or burned, and the spouses disagree if she was a Besulah (virgin) or not (which would vary the money owed), if witnesses are able to testify that certain customs were performed at her wedding [that are usually done at Besulahs weddings (such as dancing before her)], then her Kesuvah money is indeed worth two hundred zuz (as that of a Besula’s).

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Many times when we go to others’ weddings, we forget how important it is to dance and be ‘Mesameiyach’ (to gladden) the bride and groom [this critical Mitzvah can even be used to help prove a full Kesuvah payment!]. We should always to do our utmost to enhance a bride and groom’s Simcha (joy) on their special day and remember to dance the night away.
