9 Adar II, 5774 (3/11/14) – Sukkah#36 {Tani}
Mar: An esrog that looks like a cushi esrog is not kosher (due to its appearance). A cushi esrog itself however, is kosher (the original kind).
T’s Lesson: We should always be wary of an imitation. Do not settle for anything other than the authentic item. We must stay focused on what is real, true, and original. In Torah, this means not to fall for “imitation Judaism” (i.e. Jews for J, etc.). We must stay true to what real Yahadus (Judaism) is, and be sure to follow the original, true-to-form practices of orthodox Judaism. These lessons are ever so relevant and applicable today. The Torah is never “archaic” nor old (like some sects believe it to be). Assimilation is unfortunately way too rampant and leaves keep falling from our tree. Help your fellow reconnect to his/her strong tree core and recognize the strength in its roots.
