[5a bottom] Bar Kappara: The verse states, “You shall have a spike in addition to your weapons (Azeinecha),” “Oznecha” means your ears. If people hear things that are not proper they should place their fingers (which are tapered like spikes) into their ears.

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: All too often we hear things that are highly inappropriate. Yet, what do we do about it? Do we cringe? Do we try to avoid it? Do we leave the room? We must try to avoid Lashon Hara (evil speech) and all negative stimuli by either physically blocking them (with our fingers or by folding in our earplugs/earlobes) or by not even putting ourselves in precarious places to begin with.
