ONE LOVE
[3a top] Gemarah: The Rabbis have the power to uproot/dissolve even a Biblical marriage.
Ritva: Marriages are all done ‘on condition’ with Rabbis’ agreement [and if something is not correct or proper (even if the ceremony was properly completed) the Rabbis have the authority to claim it as annulled (in certain situations to help out either party)].
D-E-ep Thoughts: When we enter into a marriage, we must remember not to act selfishly. We are fulfilling another opportunity to complete G-d’s commandments and treat our other half with the utmost love and respect [this idea is enforced by the knowledge that we must act with the Rabbis’ approval]. AHAVA (love) has its root definition of HAV (giving) and when we act with a unified purpose that AHAVA enables us to become ECHAD (one) [as they both have a Gematria (hebrew numerical value) of 13!].
