BENEFITING WHO?

[73a bottom] Gemarah: One is forbidden to burn Maaser Sheni and Bikkurim (sanctified fruits) for ones own benefit/personal use when they are in a state of contamination.

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: A person should not use Mitzvos just for personal reasons [ie: not to light Shabbos/Chanukah candles just because they are pretty or give off nice glows]. We should do Mitzvos and serve Hashem for the purpose of fulfilling G-d’s will (and the side benefits should be viewed as icing on the cake).
