TEMPORARY SETBACKS

[66a middle] Gemarah: Uncircumcised or Tamei (impure) Kohanim they may not eat Terumah (Kohanic food), yet they entitle others to eat Terumah [as “their mouths merely cause them pain,” they are only temporarily prevented from eating Terumah until an external problem is rectified (ie: circumcision or going in a Mikvah)].

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Sometimes we are temporarily blocked from doing Mitzvos or good deeds. However, we should not let external factors get in our way of doing those good deeds in the future [ie: if one wants to deliver food packages to those who need it, but gets stuck in traffic and are too late to help, the person should try again in the future! Temporary setbacks test a person to reveal real conviction]. If we get stuck once, keep on trying until we succeed. With Hashem’s help, we will be successful.
