7 Adar II, 5774 (3/9/14) – Sukkah#34 {Eliezer}
R’ Asi in the name of R’ Yochanan: The following three laws are brought down as traditions from Moshe Rabbeinu:
1) A person is allowed to plow a field even up until the day before Shemittah (only if the trees are young enough that they would perish without doing so).
2) The traditions around the Temple ceremonies using the Aravos branches.
3) The special water libations on the Altar during the Sukkos holiday.
R’ Shalom Rosner: It is not very often we bring down the “Teachings from Moshe” in learning Gemarah. However, TODAY, the 7th of Adar, is exactly the day that Moshe was born and died. Everything is divine providence, “Hashgacha Prahtis.”
E’s Lesson: You can choose to see G-d’s wonderful workings everyday in the world, or you can blatantly ignore Him and term things “coincidence.” The former is called Judaism and the later is known as Amalek (distancing from G-d). As we approach the reading of the Megillah, let us remember to wipe out Haman/Amelek. See behind the mask. Bring G-d’s revelation and presence to the forefront of our minds, today and always (at it should be). Emunah Sheleima.
