R’ Rosner: A husband and a wife are a team and everything from financial obligations to emotional support must be discussed and agreed upon before one takes on extra responsibilities (even for advancing spirituality).

D-E-ep Thoughts: Sometimes, people try to rationalize their actions and make excuses for their choices. Even when to motive is actually good and proper, one must not act before consulting his/her spouse [especially if the other will be left with more of a burden (ie: going out of the house to Daven Maariv with a Minyan and missing out on bath time for the children)]. Increasing one’s own level of spirituality while sacrificing or harming a home or relationship is contrary to true Jewish beliefs. Hashem expects us to serve others to in turn serve Him. Lead by example and keep peace in the home.
