HIGHER STANDARDS

[35a bottom] R’ Sheishess: The wife of a Yisroel who was violated (even though she is permitted to her husband) is forbidden to a Kohen (if her husband dies).

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Just as the Torah has a much higher standard for Kohanim (Holy priests) to ensure their holiness remains fully intact, so too does Hashem set a much higher standard of holiness in our lives, as Jews, through the guide of the Torah. We should try to live up to these standards by watching what we eat, watch, hear and say, and minimizing the effects of our outside secular environment.
