GUARD RAILS

[34a middle] R’ Yehoshua: When one attempts (unsuccessfully) to do a Mitzvah which has an associated time constraint [ie: Bris Milah (circumcision)] and he violates a prohibition in the process, we do not hold him liable for punishment [in this case a positive command was not actually fulfilled, but because there is added stress in the situation, the individual is pardoned].

D-E-ep Thoughts: Commandments are meant for us to live Holy lives by coming closer to Hashem. Many prohibitions do not even apply when performing the highest services (ie: sacrifices even on Holidays within the Temple). When we are totally infused with proper mindset and G-d driven motivation, we can rise above (but not totally disregard) the technicality of the law and “click” into the purpose for our existence.
