A WICKED BURIAL

[32b top] Rava explaining R’ Yose (and Ravin quoting R’ Yochanan from Israel): If a person cohabits with his brother’s wife who is also his wife’s sister, he had done two sins but he is not actually liable for more than one of them. This principle has application in regards to burying this sinner: There is one cemetery for burial of death by beheading/strangulation and one for burial of death from stoning/burning. Fully wicked people were not buried next to lesser wicked people [just like a wicked person is not buried next to a Tzaddik (righteous man)]. This person in our case is considered fully wicked and gets buried in the cemetery of those killed by stoning/burning (a harsher and more severe death) even though our person is not punished by this execution (but his sins add up to a combined prohibitive total and warrant a harsher burial plot).

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: There is no rest from sins even once a person dies. Sinners gets a “wicked burial” and we should be careful to avoid all sins so as to only have a “good” burial. Death will not cause sins to be forgiven; rather one will stand judgement before Hashem for all the actions and sins during the purification process. However, we can and should do Teshuvah (repent) on earth from any sins while we can (and ideally daily as we never know when our time may be)  to remove bad stains while still on this earth.
