SIMPLE ACTIONS

[16a middle] The Rabbanan sent R’ Yehoshua, R’ Elazar and R’ Akiva to R’ Dosa to deliver a message about a Halacha that they were questioning him about. The three Rabbis were sent one after another and not all together to R’ Dosa’s home.
Ben Yehoyada: If the three greatest Rabbis all left together, everyone else would perk up and get interested to see where these three were going. To avoid any ruckus and possible embarrassment to R’ Dosa, they were sent separately not to arouse anyone else’s curiosity.

D-E-ep Thoughts: Even when we perform simple tasks of meritorious values, we must take into account the people and world around us. How will everyone else interpret the situation? What resources will become used up in the process? We must take care to perform not only proper actions, but those that will benefit us, our families, friends, communities, and worlds in which we live at the same time.
