BASKET BREAD
[10a bottom] Tosephos [R’ Yehudah]: Cases where a man betrothed a women that was forbidden to him, but never had relations with her, are still violations of Rabbinic transgressions. Achronim: Now-a-days we still allow a wedding to take place if a woman is a Niddah (during her period) [and forbidden to have relations with] because this is only a temporary prohibition and the man already “has the bread in his basket” and knows she will be permitted at a later date (so there is no Rabbinic prohibition applied here).
D-E-ep Thoughts: We are generally much more at ease when we know things will be”taken care of.” When we have enough money in our bank account to pay for the mortgage, we do not generally stress out about it. However, we must recognize that Hashem is the ONLY One always in charge. Whether we have or do not have, the same amount of “security sense” is demanded of us. We should always remember that our Father will always take care of us and provide for everything that we need. Never stress, and always thank Hashem constantly, for what we do and do not have at any given moment in time.
