4 Adar II, 5774 (3/6/14) – Sukkah#31 {Eliezer}
Tosephos: If A steals a board from B and incorporates it into a structure (ie: Sukkah), we do not require A to break down the structure to payback B. Rather, A can pay a monetary equivalent to what he stole. This is because the Rabbis do not want to push him away from doing Teshuva (forgiveness), and if it meant a huge loss for A, he might not bring himself to try to repent.
E’s lesson: We should always be extremely careful of other people’s feelings. Especially when it comes to helping them along a path of righteousness.
