NAVIGATION HELP

[5a bottom] Gemarah: We cannot derive laws [namely that a positive commandment overrides other more stringent prohibitions] from a Nazirite’s vow (one consecrated to the service of G-d, under vows to abstain from alcohol, let the hair grow, and avoid defilement by contact with corpses) because the Nazirite can be released from his prohibitive state by petitioning a sage.

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Sometimes we say things or do things that are not smart, causing us to get into trouble. Ie: We may unintentionally pledge to give more than we can afford to charity or we may offer to help when we really cannot. The Nazirite vow teaches how the sages (nowadays our Rabbis) can help us work through our issues. Rabbis may help one navigate the murky waters of Halachic issues in one’s life. It is very important to have a Rav to go to when in doubt or when we have questions.
