The Bigger They Are…
[20a top] R’ Yonasan ben Amram: Anything that is designated for Shabbos that is worn during the week becomes spiritually contaminated (as there is a lesser concentration on weekday items vs. the focus of more important/Holy articles). R’ Yosef Engel: This automatic contamination applies (rather than just being dropped down to a ‘weekday’ status of clothing) because the higher the level of Holiness something is, the more susceptible to impurity it becomes. R’ Rosner: The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Slight stains appear much more noticeable on a brighter white garment than they do on dark soiled ones.
E’s Lesson: With great power, comes great responsibility. We should always be striving to grow in life. We must also recognize that as we advance higher, we are brought newer more complicated circumstances. Hashem puts us in this world to grow and achieve. We must always be thankful for what we have, keep close what we cherish, and strive to not only maintain purity but to recognize what more we can do.
