Walking Upwards

[16a middle] Gemarah: One of the ways a human is different than an animal is that we walk upright (while they walk on all fours). Baalei Mussar: When all four limbs are connected to the ground, one is focused downwards, while we have our head up high and should be focused upwards.

E’s Lesson: We should look at other animals and remind ourselves of how different we are and how we should act accordingly. Every creature and thing in the world each serves specific purposes to help us to stay focused and directing our minds, hearts, and souls towards G-d.
