Never Enough

[15a middle] Yirmiyahu [Perek 3:14]: Everyone may repent from their ways, but “Acher” cannot do Teshuva. R’ Soloveitchik: Elisha is called Acher (other) because he himself CAN do Teshuva but his “other” evil side is beyond any help.

E’s Lesson: We must never forget that we are in a constant ongoing battle against our “Achers” or Evil Inclinations. We must never get lax in our diligence and Torah observance and constantly keep ourselves in check and involved in the Torah’s ways for protection. We should never think that we are “good enough” and keep working to better our ways.
