Modest Appearance
[13b bottom] Ezekiel had a “vision of the Merkavah.” He was able to see a face (as one may reveal his face before his master). However, it is not proper to reveal one’s legs before one’s master [it is not respectful to have immodesty before those whom we need to honor].
T’s Lesson: We should always be careful in terms of modesty with dress and appearance. Just as the Gemarah explains that even showing some aspect of legs can be seen as disrespectful, Kal Vachomer (how much more so) other types of dress or lack thereof can be highly inappropriate as well.
