UPLIFTING EXPERIENCES

The Gemarah quotes a Pasuk about putting back on shoes to teach us about pilgrimaging to Israel. R’ Schwab: We also use say the similar idea in Davening “Vihashiv Yisrael Ninveihem” about Jews returning back to their homes. The main ideas here are putting back on the shoes and returning back to our homes to teach us that the real lesson is what we do AFTER we have experienced spiritual greatness. Do we return back to our normal lives or try to infuse what we have experienced to help us soar to new heights?

E’s Lesson: This is the same reason we use wine at the ending of Shabbos [normally wine is used when we go up in status (like a Bris, Wedding, entering Shabbos, Pesach…), but at the end of Shabbos it is seemingly a drop-down step back into the week]. We must always take what we have learned and have been a part of and use the motivation to push us forward and higher in life.
