FORGETTING FEES

[112b middle] Gemarah: Since an employer is preoccupied with his workers, he may forget whether he paid them or not. Therefore, if he denies a worker’s claim (of not being paid yet), we consider his denial to be incorrect. However, the worker must swear before collecting (to assuage the employer, who wants proof that the worker was not paid).

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: In order not to forget things (especially when we are busy), it is important to take care of things (that we can) right away. Checklists help to make sure we do not miss things and also give us senses of accomplishment when completed.
