<\/span><\/span>Charity Cases –<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>Braisa<\/span> [55a bottom]: On the 6th day of the Sukkos<\/em> Holiday we say \u201call the foundations of earth will shake.\u201d Rashi<\/span>: Hashem<\/em> is explaining that He will bring justice to the poor (to make sure they get tithes that are legally owed to them). As GM\u2019 Chullin [134a] explains<\/span>: those who do not give proper tithes (paralleled to the Sukkos<\/em> \u2018season of gathering\u2019 \u00a0when these gifts are due) to the poor people, their \u2018foundations will be shaken,\u2019 – they will lose everything and die.
\n<\/span>Ritva<\/span>: The \u201cDay 6\u201d foundations shaking alludes to the maximum 6,000 year limit that the world will exist until and then be shaken (when Moshiach<\/em> will come and bring Ultimate redemption and revelation). Rashi in Sanhedrin<\/span> [quoting \u00a0GM\u2019 Avoda Zara & Rosh Hashona] explains the first 2,000 years are Tohu (emptiness), next 2,000 (to 4,000) years are Torah<\/em> (when Avraham recognized\/starting spreading Judaism), and last 2,000 years are the days of Moshiach<\/em> (Chazon Ish<\/span>: after 4,000 years there were no longer new insights to the Torah because this is when R\u2019 Yehudah canonized the Mishnayos<\/em> and all principles were set. This is why Tanoyim<\/em> cannot argue on any previous Mishnaic<\/em> teachings anymore).<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

E\u2019s Lesson:<\/strong><\/span> Tzedakah (like giving tithes) is mandated by Jewish law. Hashem \u201cenforces\u201d it by shaking people up. If a person does not willingly give 10% of his pocketed money, G-d will turn him upside and shake him until all that \u201cextra\u201d money falls out of him. Our salaries are set at the New Year and G-d adds 10% on top of that to a person, which is really His money (all is Hashem\u2019s anyway, but with this we have a direct commandment what to do with). We become a Sheliach (a messenger) of G-d to disperse this money appropriately. We even get rewarded doubly for doing so! Firstly, we get the Mitzvah fulfillment with reward in the world to come. Secondly, Hashem \u201cgives us back\u201d that exact 10% we spent for us to then actually keep! How could we ever NOT want to give Tzedakah?! Conversely (as if the double reward wasn\u2019t motivation enough), if we do not willingly give it, G-d forcefully makes us lose it. This may be through accidents, damages, extra bills ect\u2026 Then, even after we have lost it, we still are required to give an additional 10% because we never actually \u201cgave\u201d it! The choices are clear, we can either double down on delivered doses of delicious delicacies or deal with dangerous double dastardly disasters. But either way, please, never think of Tzedakah (fulfilling righteousness) as \u201cCharity.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
