R\u2019 Yirmiyah claimed that he was the rightful owner, since the father-in-law had given it to him as a gift. He came to complain about this to R\u2019 Avin in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beis Din<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Jewish court). R\u2019 Yirmiyah said, \u201cI can bring witnesses to testify that I have a <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chazakah<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a presumption of ownership; by occupying the property for three years without anyone protesting) during the lifetime of the father.\u201d \u00a0R\u2019 Avin replied, \u201cCan we accept witnesses where the other party is not present?\u201d [Meaning that they cannot accept testimony against a minor (who is not considered legally \u201cpresent\u201d).]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Prac-T-cal Tidbits<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Even when we are right, but things do not go \u2018our way,\u2019 we should not be mad or upset because everything is in Hashem\u2019s hands.
